In 2025, Media Art Nexus, an NTU initiative co-founded by Prof. Ina Conradi and Mark Chavez, needed a digital platform to showcase urban media art projects and establish their presence in the global art-technology space.
As design lead, I worked on creating a digital experience that would attract artists, researchers from academic institutions and international partners, particularly in China.

Problem space
The digital art landscape is rapidly evolving, with media art installations becoming increasingly prominent in major cities worldwide. This growth includes both large-scale urban projects and gallery exhibitions, as institutions recognize the power of technology-driven art to engage contemporary audiences. While many media art platforms exist, they often fall short in delivering cohesive digital experiences, creating fragmented touchpoints that confuse diverse stakeholders - from artists seeking collaboration opportunities to institutions looking for partnership potential.
Recognizing this gap, Media Art Nexus reached out for help to establish itself as the centralized digital hub that connects creatives, researchers, and art institutions globally.
Sitemapping
At first glance, you might be confused where to click to navigate. Not surprising, right? In the early stages of the project, we understood that the website was dying for a new sitemap. The original site suffered from "everything everywhere syndrome" - works, events, publications, and social media links were all competing for attention in the same visual space. With a new sitemap, we can expect these improvements, aligning with the vision of the founders of MAN.
Key Improvement Points
Separated content pillars
Works, Events, and Publications now exist as distinct top-level sections, allowing visitors to dive directly into their area of interest without distraction.
Creating a true incubation ecosystem
The original website failed to communicate Media Art Nexus's role as more than just a showcase platform. We repositioned the site to clearly establish MAN as a centralized incubation hub where emerging creatives, researchers, and academic partners can discover collaboration opportunities and professional development pathways.
Logical content hierarchy
Sub-pages are now organized by relevance and user intent - project case studies live under Works, academic papers under Publications, and upcoming exhibitions under Events. Brands and partners looking to collaborate may access the 'Join Us' page to learn more about the upcoming MAN-Partnerships Programme.
Nailing it right
As the project is still ongoing, the website will undergo continuous refinement and launch in Q3 2025. I'm honored to work with Prof. Ina Conradi from NTU on this long-term initiative. This case study will be updated as the project progresses with the final development and outcomes!
